The manifestation of Shi'i beliefs in the Miniatures of the Tarikh-e Bal'ami manuscript from the Ilkhanid period

Abstract

The illustrated version of "Tarikh Bal'ami" from the Ilkhanid period is the oldest illustrated example of this book. The aim of this article was to study and identify the reflection of Shiite concepts and beliefs in the paintings of the aforementioned manuscript and seeks to answer this question: From what aspects can the reflection of Shiite beliefs be traced and diagnosed in the miniatures of the illustrated version of the Ilkhanid period's Tarikh Bal'ami? This article is prepared using a descriptive-analytical and historical method and the method of collecting information is library-documentary. The studies conducted have shown the emergence and reflection of Shiite beliefs in the miniatures of the aforementioned manuscript. The manifestation of Shiite beliefs in the miniatures of can be tracked from the following aspects: 1-Reflection of the concept of the Hadith al-thaqalayn and emphasis on the high Position of the Prophet's family in the painting of genealogy of the Prophet 2-The manifestation of Alawite thought in multiple paintings; with the centrality of Imam Ali as the old companion of the Prophet, the hero of Islam and the initiator of Imamate Shiite 3-Lack of attention and illustration with dignity from of the first three caliphs of Rashedin caliphs.
