Abstract

The application of Qajar artistic characteristics, the tiling of Golestan Palace in the capital and the carpet, which have always been the center of attention, can achieve extensive study results. Here, the study and comparison of the design and motifs of one of the carpets of Qajar period in Tehran with the tile patterns of the Golestan Palace area is considered and the aim is to match the color pattern and design of the motifs in answering these questions: What are the similarities between the characteristics of carpets and tiles? To what extent is the structure of the carpet affected by the role of the mentioned tiles? It has been done in a library method, with a historical approach, in a descriptive-analytical and comparative way. As a result of the research, the structural features of the role of materials in Qajar works such as: the use of blue, yellow and pink as dominant colors in carpets and tiles have been clarified. While the structure is functionally different, it is the same in design and role; which is borrowed from the image tradition common in Qajar and artistic commonalities of the time.
